Said Al-Hallaj, Co-Founder, Chairman/CEO

Said Al-Hallaj is the co-inventor of AllCell’s PCM technology and a world-renowned expert in thermal management of lithium-ion batteries.  He possesses 20 years of experience in renewable energy research and development (with a focus on thermal management and electrochemical engineering of lithium-ion batteries) and is an adjunct professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). 
 
Said’s research ranges from the design and optimization of renewable energy systems to the use of advanced battery and fuel cell systems in electric vehicles and has been published 32 times in peer reviewed journals.  Additionally, he has been a featured speaker at over 25 alternative energy and battery conferences and has three registered patents.
 
Said holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an M.Sc. and B.Sc. in chemical engineering from the Jordan University of Science and Technology.
 
 

Nazar Al-Khayat, Vice President Engineering

Dr. Nazar (Naz) Al-Khayat is an accomplished engineering manager with more than 20 years of product development experience in the industrial, power generation and high-performance automotive sectors. He previously worked as Director of Advanced Powertrain at Cummins Inc. and more recently as chief engineer for Williams Grand Prix Engineering.
 
During his career, Naz has published over 35 technical papers and holds 10 patents covering powertrain architectures and controls, novel electrical machines topologies, power electronics configuration and controls and renewable applications.
 
Naz holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Nottingham Trent University (UK) and an M.Sc. in Electronics Engineering from University of Manchester (UK) and is a charted engineer and a full member of IET and IEEE.
 
 

Tom Nation, Vice President Manufacturing

Prior to joining AllCell, Tom Nation led manufacturing and product development of electrical, electronics, and cooling products in the automotive industry for over 30 years. Tom began his career at Ford Motor Company in their electronics division as the auto industry began the rapid and massive incorporation of electronics into cars. He progressed through a variety of roles with Ford—and its spin-off Visteon—for 32 years, including several years in Europe where he was responsible for operations at over a dozen manufacturing plants. He is well versed in lean, six sigma, and TPS manufacturing processes and practices and has managed the full range of small to very large manufacturing sites. Tom is also an accomplished photographer and fine art printing specialist. He has a BS in electrical engineering from the Ohio State University and post graduate studies in digital imaging and signal processing.
 
 
 

Richard Ott, Vice President Finance

Richard Ott has over 40 years of experience as a CFO, controller, financial officer, and accountant. Richard began his career as an audit supervisor with Grant Thornton, where his clients included a variety of private and publicly traded companies. He then went on to hold a number of different financial management roles, primarily focused on manufacturing firms, including Driv-Lok Inc., RB&W Corporation, Winward Roofing, and MBL Corporation.
 
His experience includes consulting, process redesign, and implementing accounting and financial reporting systems. Richard holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois Chicago, and he was certified as a CPA by the Illinois Society of Certified Public Accountants.
 
 

Jake Edie, Vice President Business Development

Jake Edie has 15 years of experience in consulting, marketing, and software. Jake most recently served as Vice President, Consulting Services for DemandTec, a start-up software analytics company.
 
During his time at DemandTec, he was a leader in the development of the Consumer Products business, a strategic priority that supported the company’s successful IPO in 2007.
 
Prior to DemandTec, Mr. Edie also spent time as a management consultant at Booz & Company (formerly Booz-Allen & Hamilton) and regional marketing director for The Princeton Review. Mr. Edie received an undergraduate degree in economics from Northwestern University and a Master’s of Science in environmental science and policy from the University of Chicago.
 
 

Jeremiah Schatt, Vice President of Corporate Development

Jeremiah Schatt is an experienced finance professional with a passion for growing early stage ventures. He previously worked at Bioscan Inc., a leading manufacturer and supplier of pre-clinical imaging systems. As Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis, he helped the firm raise over $15M in debt and equity capital while improving its long-term revenue and cash flow projection capabilities.
 
Mr. Schatt’s early career was spent in politics and international affairs, where he primarily worked for the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF). While employed a GMF, Mr. Schatt was responsible for overseeing a broad portfolio of projects, including: developing and managing major public opinion surveys, assisting the foundation with its long-term strategic planning processes, and overseeing a portion of the foundation’s grants making activities.
 
Mr. Schatt holds an MBA with a concentration in economics and entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and a B.A. in Religious Studies from Wesleyan University.
 
 
Mohamed F. Alzoubi, Director of Research & Development
 

Dr. Alzoubi is an accomplished mechanical engineering professional with more than 15 years of significant experience in managing R & D engineers and scientists as well as teaching future mechanical engineers. Dr. Alzoubi is a patent level designer and inventor of unique testing instruments and techniques for viscoelastic materials. Also he has a leadership in combining technical and business solutions to support overall corporate strategic goals.

Dr. Alzoubi previously worked as a senior scientist in the R&D department at Tempur-Pedic Production, and joint recently AllCell Technologies as the Director of Research & Development. Mohamed has published several journal and conference papers and holds several patents and proprietary trade secrets covering new techniques and equipment for testing viscoelastic materials.

Mohamed holds a Ph.D. in materials, mechanical and aerospace engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an M.S. in mechanical engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington and B.Sc. in mechanical engineering from the Jordan University of Science and Technology.

 

Scott Novack-Director of Sales (North America)
 

Scott Novack has a diverse professional background which includes 10 years of experience across multiple industries. With stops in commercial lending, real estate development and real estate brokerage, the common link for Scott has always been business development and sales.

In roles such as Associate Relationship Manager (Wells Fargo), Project Manager (Centrum Properties) and Managing Broker (owner- private RE brokerage co.), Scott gained extensive experience securing and growing multiple accounts and relationships.

Prior to joining the professional world, Mr Novack received a BBA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. A passion for clean technology and renewable energy, stemming in part from a LEED green associate certification, led Scott to AllCell in 2011.

 

Will Georgi-Director of Sales (International)
 

Will Georgi has 10 years of experience in the energy business ranging across consulting, research, sales, and account management. Will spent most of his tenure working for SNL Energy, a leading research, news, and data provider in the electric, natural gas, and coal sectors. In his time at SNL, Will served in a number of roles including product manager, manager of energy research, and account manager.

Prior to SNL, Will worked as a consultant doing long term energy forecasting for OnLocation Inc. Will also spent time working with the French electric vehicle charging station company, DBT, as they explored introducing their products in the US.

Will has a degree in economics from Hobart and William Smith Colleges where he focused his studies on energy and sustainable technologies.

 

Greg Albright, Technical Sales Director
 

Greg Albright has worked at AllCell Technologies since 2007 in sales and technical roles. During that time period, he has worked on programs in the automotive, stationary, recreational vehicle, and aerospace industries. His current position focuses on the identification of new markets for AllCell and working with customers and internal teams to develop products for those markets.

At AllCell, Greg has presented at numerous conferences, been published in technical and commercial publications, and worked on multiple patent applications.

He received undergraduate and master’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology with a focus on Renewable Energy. While pursuing his degrees, he had internships at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, CO and the University of Auckland in New Zealand.

 

J. Robert Selman, Co-Founder/Senior Technical Advisor, Board Member
 

Rob Selman is the co-inventor of AllCell’s PCM technology and a Senior Technical advisor to AllCell.  He has over 30 years of experience in battery and fuel cell research and development, and the global commercialization of these technologies.

Rob has been involved in electrochemical engineering of batteries and fuel cells at Argonne National Laboratory, the University of California Lawrence Berkeley Lab, and the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).  He has written over 135 journal papers and has six patents, among which are the basic patents for phase change material in Li-ion batteries (developed together with Said Al-Hallaj).  In addition to his work at AllCell, Rob is a Distinguished Research Professor in chemical engineering at IIT.  He won the Electrochemical Society’s Energy Technology Award in 2002. 
 
Rob holds a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of California Berkeley, an M.S. in chemical engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison, and is an alumnus of the Technological University Delft in the Netherlands.

Ronald Kirschner, Board Member
 

Ronald L. Kirschner, M.D. is President of Heartland Angels, Inc. Dr. Kirschner has a broad background in healthcare, start-ups and private equity. Dr. Kirschner practiced medicine for 23 years and anesthesia for 17 of those years. He was President of Irving Park Chapter of the Chicago Medical Society.

He taught at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center and was an Assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine and has taught at the Illinois Institute of Technology in the Finance Department. While practicing medicine, he started 3 companies of his own in the healthcare field dealing with Nutrition, Managed Care, and Utilization Review. He was the VP of Technology Development for CDIB Biotech, Inc., a Midwest Biotechnology Venture Fund (started by China Development Industrial Bank) where his roles was to assist in the discovery and funding of early stage biotechnology in the Midwest and Canada. He was principal in the funding decisions concerning, among others, Aegera Therapeutics, Immunicon (now Veridex), and VitaGen (now Vital Therapies, Inc.). 

Dr. Kirschner received his BA from Beloit College and was awarded his Medical Degree from St. Louis University. He has completed residencies in Emergency Medicine at the University of Chicago and in Anesthesia at West Virginia University. He received his MBA in Finance from DePaul University.

Robert Anderson

Bob Anderson received a BSChE degree from IIT and a Master of Management degree from Northwestern University. During 37 years with UOP LLC he was awarded 29 US patents. He gained experience in R&D, Design Engineering, Project Management, Technology Commercialization, Licensing, Marketing, Total Quality Management, and General Management. He had an international assignment in Belgium as Managing Director of UOP NV. After retiring as vice president of marketing he joined IIT to establish the Office of Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property. He has been associated with All Cell from its beginning in a number of advisory and administrative roles.

Jay A. Fisher
 

Dr. Fisher is recently retired from the Illinois Institute of Technology where he was the Director of theKnappEntrepreneurshipCenterand the Director of the Ed Kaplan Entrepreneurial Studies Program.  Dr. Fisher also led the development and implementation of a new Undergraduate Business program for the University.  Before joining IIT in 2000, Mr. Fisher worked in the chemical businesses of Amoco and BP Amoco for thirty-one years. He held senior management positions in business development, research, manufacturing, logistics, customer service, and strategic planning.

Kim Kinoshita
 

Dr. Kim Kinoshita retired from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, and has served as a consultant on fuel cells and Li-ion batteries. He is a co-founder of EnerVault Corporation (Sunnyvale, CA), which is developing large-scale stationary battery storage for renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. During his career, he published numerous technical articles and 2 books (John Wiley Publisher):  Electrochemical Oxygen Technology and Carbon – Physicochemical and Electrochemical Properties. Kim received his PhD in Electrochemistry from the University of California, Berkeley.

Johnsee Lee
 

Dr. Johnsee Lee is the Chairman of the Development Center for Biotechnology and the President of Science and Technology Management Association in Taiwan. Prior to his current position, he served as the President of the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan and held various technical and managerial positions at Argonne National Laboratory and Johnson Matthey Inc.  Dr. Lee received a PhD from the Illinois Institute of Technology, an MBA from the University of Chicago, and is a graduate of HarvardBusinessSchool’s Advanced Management Program. He was elected as the President of the Federation of Asian Chemical Societies in 1999, and served as the President of Taiwan Bio Industry Organization as well as the President of the Chemical Engineering Society in Taiwan. His areas of technical expertise cover chemical, energy, and biotechnology.

Anil Oroskar

Dr. Anil Oroskar is the Owner of Orochem Technologies Inc. Dr. Oroskar received his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1981. For 25 years he worked at UOP, in many areas such as catalysis, process engineering and new technology delivery and made significant contributions to the commercialization of new technology in the refining and Petrochemical Industry. He retired from UOP in 2005 as a Senior Executive to manage his own company, Orochem Technologies Inc. which specializes in Biotechnology and Drug Discovery. Anil has over 50 US patents and numerous publications. He was one of the Directors of the Fuels and Petrochemical Division of AICHE. He is currently an adjunct Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Illinois, Chicago and also the Director of the Center for Innovation in Chemical Industry.
