Lithium-ion Advantages
Compared to other battery chemistries, lithium-ion offers the following advantages:
High energy density
The energy density is typically twice that of standard nickel-cadmium.
No memory effect
The discharge capacity of the battery is not reduced when it is repeatedly discharged incompletely and then recharged.
High voltage
A cell voltage of 3.6 volts allows some battery packs to be designed with only one cell.
Rapid recharge
High power Li-ion cells can be fully charged in as little as 1-hour.
